Sprint's Xohm Wimax is the company's next-generation wireless data network that will offer wireless broadband services. According to the wireless network operator, the Xohm Wimax can deliver speeds between 2 and 4 Mbps.
The existence of a WiMaAX network will provide more options in applications. It will also offer wireless broadband services to remote places and offer new devices. This technology will also offer new forms of interactive communications, social-networking tools, location-centric services and multimedia applications to all consumers.
How is this new wireless broadband service different form existing services? Well, here are some of the reasons:
- customers will not be required to sign long-term commitments or contracts
- service for multiple WiMAX access devices will be covered by a single monthly charge
- Customers can purchase WiMAX devices
- This serviceis self-activated
- It is also capable of future updates
- offers Internet portal with enhanced mobile services;
Sprint also released information on the introductory offers for the Xohm Wimax wireless broadband service. Customers will have the option of choosing monthly passes for $25 and daily passes for $10. They will also be abale to choose from WiMax modems that are offered at a minimum price of $60. Laptops and other WiMax capable devices be available later this year.
There are also choices for markets where the Sprint's Xohm Wimax network is not yet operational. The company has announced that a dual-mode EVDO / WiMax device that can use both networks will be launched in the near future.
