US Wireless Network Operators May Recieve Tax Credits

It seems that wireless network operators will get some help during the current economic crisis. According to a Reuters article, a Tax Credits proposal for US wireless networks is being discussed in Congress. Let's go into the details of this story on Tax Credits proposal for US wireless networks.

Apparently, the US government is discussing plans to bolster the U.S. economy. The Tax Credits proposal for US wireless networks is part of these economic recovery solutions. Lawmakers are trying to decide if providing tax breaks to telecommunication companies that provide broadband through the Tax Credits proposal for US wireless networks will help to revitalize the flagging economy.

The original form of the Tax Credits proposal for US wireless networks was limited only to wired broadband providers. However, the present form of the Tax Credits proposal for US wireless networks now includes mobile service carriers such as AT&T Mobility, Sprint, Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile USA.

The Tax Credits proposal for US wireless networks aims to provide a 10% tax credit to companies that high-speed Internet. Wireless network providers that build high-speed web access in rural and under-served areas are also included in the Tax Credits proposal for US wireless networks.

However, the Tax Credits proposal for US wireless networks also suggests that an additional 10% tax break to companies that build faster Internet services. It seems that the Tax Credits proposal for US wireless networks could really provide significant aid to US carriers. I think that the 20% potential tax break offered by the Tax Credits proposal for US wireless networks represent a lot of money because these companies are worth billions of dollars.

Sen. John Rockefeller, a senior Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee and Republican Sen. Olympia Snowe are spearheading the Tax Credits proposal for US wireless networks. Since debates and discussions on the Tax Credits proposal for US wireless networks are still going on, the exact details of this stimulus package have not been finalized.

Of course, the Tax Credits proposal for US wireless networks have its share of supporters and opponents. Some lawmakers feel that the is simply a give away and would only be used to fund projects that would have been built anyway. Some also say that the tax break plan will help to spur investment not already planned.

I think that it will be exciting to observe the progress of Tax Credits proposal for US wireless networks. If the approval of the Tax Credits proposal for US wireless networks will help to build faster broadband around the country then I'm for it. Keep on visiting this blog to know more about news and updates on major wireless network operators.

T-Mobile 3G Wireless Network Launch in Las Vegas and More

Here are some of the latest updates in the wireless network operator industry. Let's being with some new scoop on T-Mobile's 3G network.

According to Phonescoop, T-Mobile has made an announcement regarding the launch of its 1700MHz AWS 3G network in the Las Vegas market . T-Mobile customers within the Las Vegas market will be able to use the 1700MHz spectrum for voice and UMTS 3G data services if they own 3G handsets. T-Mobile's 3G mobile phones will reportedly find the 3G network automatically.

The mobile phone carrier has also announced some of its plans to expand its 3G footprint to 20 additional markets before this year ends. T-Mobile is also getting ready to release information on an HSDPA-capable phone and other devices.

Here are some of T-Mobile's 3G enabled phones:
  • Nokia 6263
  • Nokia 3555
  • Samsung SGH-T819
  • Samsung SGH-t639

Now let's move on to Verizon's efforts to increase its wireless network. Verizon made some serious moves to overtake AT&T as the top US mobile phone carrier when it acquired Alltel. Now, Verizon wireless has moved a step closer to acquiring Rural Cellular Corporation for $2.67 billion.

Recently, the FCC has approved Verizon Wireless proposal to acquire Rural Cellular Corporation. Rural Cellular Corporation is a a regional network operator that operates both CDMA and GSM networks. The company serves over 716,000 subscribers in parts of New England, the Mid West, the South and the Pacific Northwest. However, one of the two companies will have to divest wireless licenses and assets in six different markets to complete this deal.

Let's move on to competition between wireless network operators. AT&T and Verizon Wireless are said to be going toe to toe in the international plans market.

Both of the mobile phone carriers have recently released new offers and expanded their international data plans. This move has been seen as an attempt to exploit the international crowd for the upcoming Beijing Olympics.

AT&T has released two new wireless plans, one for smartphone users and one for PC card users. It has also expanded its global voice and data coverage with international data roaming and increased its roaming coverage to 120 cruise ships.

On the other hand, Verizon has launched a new global mobile wireless broadband Internet program for its laptop customers. This program will offer streamlined global mobile broadband access on both CDMA and GSM networks in 125 nations.

The Red iPhone 3G and other AT&T News

Here's some more recent news from the mobile phone carriers industry. Let's start with some juicy ones. What do you think about a red iPhone? Will it sell? Will iPhone fans find it it sexy?

According to thius story from unwiredview.com, there were some reports that Apple will release a red version of the iPhone 3G. The reports also say that iPhone fanatics can get their hands this holiday season1 Well, Merry Christmas!

Looking at the red iPhone images from Macblogz. com, I can say that it looks great. It reminds of a sleek and sexy Ferrari or Santa Clause. Unfortunately, these reports are still unconfirmed. But Iphone fans dreaming of having a red iPhone should not despair because Apple might realize that they boost sales by introducing more colors for the iPhone.

Here's another iPhone report. According to a story revolving around some mobile phone sites, an iPhone 2.1 beta tester has found references to a copy and paste feature under the ‘Localizable.strings’ file in the WebKit framework. This is exciting because the iPhone 3G has been criticized for its a lack of the copy/paste feature which is standard for most smartphones.

However, some have dismissed tis report because those references may have merely carried over from the existing WebKit frameworks that are used for Windows PC and Mac application development. So nothing is definite yet on this report but I'm sure that Apple fans are hoping to get the copy/paste feature on the iPhone in the near future.

But enough with AT&T's iPhone. Here's some info on AT&T. The wireless network operator has recently filed a petition with the FCC to halt the merger of Sprint's Xohm Wimax service with Wimax provider Clearwire.

AT&T wants Clearwire and Sprint to demonstrate that the merger serves the public interest just like any other providers would have to do. This means that AT&T wants this deal to be examined thoroughly because because Clearwire is to be backed by heavyweights Google, Intel, and cable companies.

Lastly, here's some bad news for AT&T subscribers who want to have the BlackBerry Bold. According to BlackBerryNews, the AT&T BB Bold is now being scheduled for a launch on September 1. What's so bad about this report?

Well, the Bold was supposed to be released on was July, then it was moved to mid-August. And now it being set up for a September 1 release. Some say that the released depends on how quickly the wireless network operator can train personnel on the phone.

That's it for this week. Tune in to this blog for more info on the wireless network operators and the latest handsets.

Recent Wireless Network Operator News

Here's some recent news on wireless network operators that I've picked up while surfing the web. Let's begin with a story on free mobile Internet.

Well, a month ago, FCC Chairman Kevin Martin made a proposal that companies that acquire the spectrum should devote at least 25% to free Internet access for 95% of the country . This is a good proposal for the subscribers because they would be given free online access. After all, nobody would turn down a great offer like free Internet access. But mobile phone carriers may not agree to this proposal.

Sure enough, some wireless network operators and telecommunication companies have reuquested an audience with with the FCC this week to discuss a spectrum auction in which the winning bidders would have to offer free Internet. AT&T, Motorola, T-Mobile and Texas Instruments were mentioned as among those who met with the FCC regarding this issue.

These wireless network operators and companies are concerned that companies that want their products to be used internationally may be affected if the free Internet model will be implemented.

T-Mobile feeles threatened by the FCC proposal because the wireless network operator's devices operate on airwaves next to those that the FCC wants to put up for auction. There is a chance that activity on that band will interfere with T-Mobile's wireless Internet services. The company wants to request testing to ensure that the proposal will not endanger it's wireless services.

As a result of these request from telecom companies and carriers, Martin said last week that the sale could be postponed until next year. This is too bead because I would really enjoy free mobile Internet access.

Here's another wireless network news involving AT&T. Unfortunately, this is not good news for the carrier. A California retailer has accused AT&T of Nokia of selling a used cellphone as new and have filed a class action lawsuit against them.

The retailer also claims that damage was done when they purchase a brand new Nokia cellphone full the full prize but received a used or reconditioned Nokia cellphone indeed. A used or reconditioned handset is worth substantially less than a brand new unit so the complainant felt that a suit is necessary.

This complaint has moved recently to federal court from a court in LA. AT&T Mobility declined to release any comment on this matter. Tune in to this blog for more wireless networks news, info and updates.

Wireless Networks Reviews part One

I have made several post on this blog that offers information on how users feel about certain mobile phones. These reviews were offered by users who posted them on the Internet. Now, I thought it would be interesting to offer a review of wireless networks or mobile phone providers.

Let us begin with Verizon Wireless. Sources on the web describe this wireless network as having the top score in call quality. This means that the subscribers of Verizon Wireless suffer from less drop calls and enjoy great calling experience.

This network is also known for being able to serve a wide range of customers. Verizon offers services that are suitable for corporate customers and non business subscribers. Many sources also credit this wireless carrier for the discount packages it offers to customers.

Since no company is perfect, Verizon has also been criticized for its shortcomings. The wireless network has been chastised for having poor coverage in some areas. Some customers have complained that the network has sub par performance in their location.

Some observers also had commented that Verizon wireless plans are more expensive than most wireless networks. Perhaps they feel that the quality service that the carrier provide does not justify the high cost.

Let us move on to US Cellular. This carrier is known for being the top regional wireless network. This company is credit as providing good customer service to their subscribers. The company takes pride in making their customers feel that their needs will be satisfied.

US Cellular also receive points for the extras they provide on their services. This is also a contributing factor in the company's reputation of providing commendable customer service. Extras and discounts are a good tool for making customers feel that they have received more than their money's worth.

Unfortunately, this wireless network also has its share of criticisms. Some say that the price of their services is also high. Compared with other networks, this company's plans have similar or higher price tags.

Since US Cellular is a regional carrier, its network is limited. It can only provide services in 26 states and most of them are in the Midwest. This can be a problem for customers who have friends and family in states not served by US Cellular. They make be charged for roaming fees when they contact them.

Let us finish this first part with a review of AT&T. This wireless network is considered as one of the giants of the mobile phone industry. With more than sixty million customers, this company has a lot of clout in the industry.

AT&T offers great service and provides good calling quality. The wireless network would not be able to maintain millions of customers if it offers poor service and great products. This carrier offers unique services that are unmatched by other networks. Mobile phone customers subscribe to AT&T because of the great and unique options available.

The company's ability to offer the best and the latest mobile phone products is also a factor in the company's dominance in the industry. Nothing attract customers more than the temptation of being able to get the latest and hottest handsets. The Apple iPhone for example, pulls a massive number of customers to the network.

Nevertheless, the company has also received complaints from dissatisfied customers and reviewers. One of the recurring complaints that are hurled at the network is the delay in voice message delivery. many customers experienced that the voice messages they send are not received by the intended recipient at the expected time.

Some customers have also complained that the company does not treat customers well. The quality of the company's customer service have been questioned. The attitude of the AT&T's service representatives have been the cause of many complaints.

Well, that's it for now. I didn't expect my post to be this long. Judging by the length of this one, two more post may be required to cover other wireless networks. I hope this post will be able to provide you with useful information.

AT&T to Launch Nokia N95?

I found an interesting wireless network article as I was surfing the web today. This phonedog.com article says that there are rumors that the Nokia N95 may be coming to AT&T.

The article also indicated that the Nokia N95 maybe available in AT&T outlets during the second quarter of this year. As these are still rumors, it is still unsure whether wireless network will launch the N95 or the newer 8GB model. Let me give a short preview on these phones just in case you are unfamiliar with them.

The Nokia N95 Super Phone

The N95 is Nokia's flagship Nseries mobile phone. This smartphone has a an enormous features list that is packed into a compact slider form. The phone has a large QVGA display with slide-activated landscape mode. It also has a 5 megapixel auto-focus camera with high-quality video capture.

GPS, Wi-Fi, quad-band GSM, EDGE data, Bluetooth, memory card slot, and version 2 of Nokia's full web browser software are also included in the Nokia N95's features. It weighs in at
125 g and has dimensions of 3.9" x 2.09" x 0.83" in inches.

Here is a video tour of the device to give you more info on this phone

I also scanned some user reviews about the Nokia N95 so I'll give a brief summery. Users generally love this device because of the screen, the 5MP camera, high quality videos, and the web browser. However, the device has its shortcomings as users disliked its battery life, high price and the absence of a Qwerty keyboard.

Nokia N95 8 GB

The 8GB is an updated version of the N95. This newer version features 8 GB of built-in memory and an even larger display. The N95 was criticized for having a poor battery life so the 8 GB improved on this aspect.

Generally, the version retained the features of the N95. The 8 GB features the 5 megapixel auto-focus camera, GPS, Wi-Fi, version 2 of Nokia's full web browser software and stereo Bluetooth.

I'm sure AT&T subscribers are thrilled with these rumors. The N95 is one of the coolest phones to date so mobile enthusiasts will be glad that the wireless network may make this smartphone available in the upcoming months. I hope that the high price will decrease, so I can afford one of my own. :)

Major 3G Network Coverage Expansion for 2008 Planned by AT&T

This week major wireless network, AT&T has announced some of their major plans for 2008.

The mobile phone industry is grown steadily and the needs of wireless customers also evolve and grow unceasingly. This expansion will allow the company to continuously evolve its network to meet the ever growing needs and demands of the wireless community. To continue delivering higher speeds and capacity for the future, AT&T aims to focus on the evolution towards HSPA+ and LTE technologies.

The network released a statement indicating they plan to make high speed wireless Web connection more accessible by creating a wider network for mobile customers. To achieve this vision, the wireless network will deploy third-generation (3G) wireless broadband services to more than 80 additional US cities.

When this massive expansion plan for this year is complete, AT&T 3G services will be available to nearly 350 leading U.S. markets. No less than 1,500 additional cell sites will be necessary to attain this 3G initiative. That should give you a picture of the immensity of this project.

At&T also mentioned other plans that will be initiated this year. Oner of them is building the nation's first High Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA)-enabled network. This project is expected to be completed by the middle of 2008.

When thisa new generation technology is completed, the wireless network will deliver faster uplink speeds. This means that sending large files in a shorter amount of time will be possible for AT&T's HSUPA-enabled laptop users. They will also be able to take full advantage of the latest interactive Internet and business applications when the HSUPA enabled network becomes operational.

The evolution of AT&T's 3G network will not be possible without the deployment of the HSUPA network. Further enhancements and speed boosts will follow if the initials stages of the expansion has been established. The transition of the AT&T 3G network to High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) standards will be completed only after the deployment of the HSUPA network.

Ralph de la Vega, the president and CEO for AT&T's wireless unit released this statement,
"Fast wireless broadband is the foundation for a whole range of new and emerging applications that our customers are adopting, including everything from social networking to sending live video and large business files. With these aggressive initiatives, we're expanding the scope and the speed of our 3G capabilities, connecting people with their world and enabling more customers to do more with their wireless devices, wherever they may be."
It seems that AT&T wants to start this year with the right foot. The competition in the lucrative wireless phone industry is very tight so getting every possible advantage over the competiton will spell success. If the wireless network can sucessfully expand their networks and complete the tranistion into HSPA+ and LTE technologies, then they will have a significant edge over their rivals.

I hope that these developments will also produce positive changes for wireless consumers. Perhaps the stiff competition among wireless networks will result in the best services and products for us wireless consumers.

T-Mobile Tops Customer Service Survey

Let's applaud T-Mobile for doing a good job of making their subscribers happy.

In the latest study conducted by the researchers of J.D. Power and Associates, T-Mobile USA Inc. remained as the top wireless carrier in terms of customer service performance. For the past several studies done by the research company, T-Mobile has stayed rooted at the top. It must be good to be a customer of this wireless network.

Let me describe how the study is done. The research gathers information on how well the wireless carriers meet customers’ service-related needs. They look at several types of services including those done over the phone with a representative, via automated response system, personal visits to T-Mobile retail stores and online transactions.

To complete the study, researchers form J.D. Power and Associates also measures the efficiency of how customers’ issues are resolved. About twelve and a half thousand wireless customers who contacted their carrier’s customer-care department within the past year were the foundation of this research.

Other wireless networks also did well in this customer satisfaction study. Verizon Wireless was ranked number two while AT&T and Alltel are tied at the third spot. Sprint Nextel Corp. ranked last in the study but they made announcements before the end of last year that they will initiate programs driven towards improving customer service.

Several interesting findings also surfaced as a result of this customer satisfaction study. For instance, nearly half of wireless customers connected to the customer care service of their wireless networks. Most of them were related to inaccurate charges and other inquiries related to bills.

A lot of wireless network customers contacted their carriers by phone but most people still prefer personal visits to a retail store. Maybe people feel more comfortable with doing things personally. In my experience, nothing beats talking personally with a customer care representative when discussing a problem.

I hope that this post have been helpful for you. If you haven't chosen a particular network, then the results of the study might help you form a decision.

AT&T Mobile TV Launch

This is a bit of good news for AT&T subscribers.

According to anonymous sources, AT&T Mobility has began making preparations to launch mobile TV broadcast services from MediaFLO USA Inc. After all the delays that have frustrated customers, it seems that the long awaited launch of this service if finally at hand. Aren't you excited?

AT&T customers will finally get what Verizon has given their customers almost a year ago. The wireless network initially announced that it would launch the mobile TV service by the end of 2007. However, they were unable to push through with that plan. If you can feel the excitement then let me give you another juicy bit of info.

The launch is estimated to be held in the early part of February. The internal documents and sources that have been "leaked" indicate that it will happen next month. The information also express that the plan is to use two exclusive channels for the launch of AT&T's Mobile TV.

MediaFlow's service offers offers eight live, linear TV channels around the clock but sources say that may not be the case for AT&T's service. Experts predict that MediaFLO will work with carriers. This will help the networks to provide different offers and provide opportunities for exclusive content. In short, they will try to keep everyone happy.

After all, having both mobile phone networks offering similar services would not be a good idea. Each wireless network should have something different to offer that will appeal to their customers. A good example would be to offer exclusive channels. Each carrier with mobile TV would be able to mix content that might not necessarily come from a single source.

However, AT&T Mobility and MediaFLO have refused to make any comments on the leaked information about the mobile TV launch. Nevertheless, customers who are eager to try out mobile TV feel that AT&T will finally deliver and will satisfy the cravings of their customers.

I basically feel the same way. Verizon customers have been enjoying this service so AT&t has to be more aggressive about the release this anticipated service. Another delay might cause AT&T to lose some of their loyal subscribers and certainly bring about more complaints.

AT&T Follows Verizon in Opening up Network

Perhaps in responce to Verizon Wireless' announcement last week that it would open up its network, AT&T has also made it known that their subscribers will be able to attach outside devices and run outside applications.

Information about this significant AT&T decision will be publicized through salespeople at AT&T stores. It will also be possible for AT&T's customers to take their handsets to other mobile service providers using GSM.

Customers can purchase a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) through the company if they want to bring a GSM device to the AT&T network. Activation of the device will follow if it operates in U.S. spectrum frequencies. However, there is one very vital exception.

It has been made clear that AT&T will not unlock the iPhone to use on other networks. An AT&T spokesman explanins, "we will unlock the device when customers fulfill their contract; we will also unlock the device if the customer pays full price for the device," he said. "The iPhone, however, is an exception. The iPhone is exclusive to AT&T in the U.S." Needless to say, this decision is highly unpopular.

A spokesman for open-access advocate Public Knowledge said that, "The theme is fine, and we approve, but would like to see more details." I think the details about this issue will come out when all the aspects have been worked out.

However, I do think that this will lead to a more positive changes in terms of oping up of networks. Perhaps the other networks will also decide to open their networks and provide balance in the wireless phones market.

AT&T's 3G Wireless Network Expansion

Communications and wireless giant AT&T has continued to expand its ever growing network. The recent 3gG expansions are part of the $350 million in investments the company has made in the last two years.

More AT&T customers will receive and enjoy broadband speeds when the expansion will be completed. The city and surrounding communities in the expansion areas will surely benefit from the services of this great company.

With 3G wireless technology, users can download a 1 megabyte file in 15 seconds. Compared to the one minute per megabyte speed of the old network, this is a significant speed increase.

The areas that are covered in this week's expansion includes 75 sites in Western Massachusetts, the city and surrounding communities of Pittsburgh, Richmond and Hampton Roads in Virginia, and the western Massachusetts area.

AT&T Customers that live within the expansion area can also avail of Video Share. This is one of the the network's exciting new services. Users can share live video between wireless phones while conducting a voice call with the help of this feature. This feature is also useful in business scenarios. For instance, car dealers can negotiate with their clients while showing them a vehicle through their wireless phone.

Another exciting to AT&T's arsenal of exciting new features is the cellular video and laptop connect. Users can use this revolutionary feature to access to 3G broadband speeds with a wireless laptop card. However, one of AT&T's 31 3G-appropriate devices must be used to access the network.

It is also useful for users to remember that they will automatically switch back to AT&T's 2G network upon leaving the 3G service area. As of today, the 3G network is available in more than 220 U.S. cities.

If 3G technology is unable in your area, then you don't have to worry about it. You see, AT&T plans to expand to more markets by the end of the year. It's only a matter of time before you can use 3G technology in your area.

Wireless giant AT&T has receiving two 2007 Capacity Magazine Global Wholesale Awards which further solidifies its position as a leading provider of wholesale services in the world. The awards were announced on Monday evening at the Capacity Europe 2007 conference in Amsterdam.

It has won the "Best National U.S. Wholesale Provider" award, for the second year in a row, and the "Best U.S. Metropolitan Provider." AT&T has made history because this is the first time that Capacity has given two awards in one year to a single company for provision of services to the market.

The world knows AT&T Inc. as a premier communications holding company. AT&T services in the United States and around the world are provided by its subsidiaries and affiliates. They also provide the world's most advanced IP-based business communications services in the world. The leading wireless, high speed Internet access and voice services are also courtesy of AT&T.
