Sprint's XOHM WiMax Wireless Network Ready for Commercial Launch!

Here's some excellent wireless network news for Sprint subscribers. Sprint and Samsung Electronics Corporation Ltd. has announced that the XOHM wireless network is ready for it's commercial release.

Check out this statement from Barry West, the top man at XOHM:

"This is a major step towards launch readiness and Sprint is extremely pleased with the performance of the mobile WiMAX network and access devices from Samsung. The collaboration with Samsung and our other partners has created a WiMAX ecosystem that has now proven that it can deliver this new technology to the marketplace well ahead of any feasible alternative."

Sprint's XOHM business unit is devoted solely on developing the WiMAX ecosystem and standards to bring the latest broadband wireless technology. Sprint is utilizing the significant spectrum holdings at 2.5 GHz that were combined in the Sprint Nextel merger to deploy mobile WiMAX technology.

The new broadband wireless network from Sprint that offers the speed and mobility of WiMAX has met the demands of rigorous testing. The tests were designed to see if the network can achieve commercial acceptance criteria that includes overall performance, handoff performance and handoff delay.

The extensive evaluation of this high speed wireless network was conducted in the XOHM(TM) lab environment and with the commercial service network being built in the Baltimore and Washington D.C. area. Sprint decided to hold the launching commercial WiMAX service in those cities later this year after the vital technical milestone was achieved in the tests.

The wireless network has introduced several WiMAX-enabled devices in preparation for the launching of XOHM. The Express Card (E100 PC Card) and WiMAX embedded UMPC (Q1 Ultra Premium Mobile PC) are already in place for the WiMAX systems being deployed for Sprint in Baltimore and Washington D.C.

AT&T and Sprint May Get LG Voyager

I have picked up this interesting wireless network rumor while surfing the web. This enticing scoop involves LG's iPhone response or killer. It seems every mobile phone maker is trying to come up with an answer to Apple's gem. Nokia has the "Tube", Samsung recently announced the "Instinct" and LG has the Voyager.

Well, I can't blame cell phone manufacturers and wireless networks with trying to launch the true iPhone slayer. After all, it's probably the hottest mobile phone on the market. The number of fake iPhones in the world market should be a good proof of this Apple handset's dominance. But enough with the introduction. Let's get on to the meat of this juicy wireless network rumor.

Currently, Verizon has the exclusive rights to the LG Voyager or VX10000. However, some rumors have surfaced that Sprint and AT&T may also be able to add the device to their mobile phone line ups. The LG Voyager has performed well since it was launched so it will certainly draw some consumers.

As basis for this rumor, the Electronic Times quoted an LG official making this statement,
"We plan to expand the supply of Voyager to AT&T and Sprint within this year. That will lay the strong foundation for LG in the North American market."
Well, that statement is indeed tantalizing. It's very probable that LG is trying to expand the success of their handset by offering it on other wireless networks. However, there are also a few puzzling facets to this rumor.

Spring Nextel is trying to recover from various problems and the LG Voyager can help them retain their fickle subscribers. However, Sprint has been working with Samsung to launch another iPhone response in the Instinct. The wireless network was reportedly willing to spend a hundred million to market the Samsung Instinct. Launching the Voyager and the Instinct may cause some conflict. Then again, having two high-end and highly touted mobile phones may be the part of solution to Sprint's problems.

AT&T is already the sole distributer of the iPhone so it is puzzling why they would offer an "iPhone killer". Maybe they want to offer new alternatives to their customers. It would be interesting to see what happens if AT&T offers both of these handsets.

In the end, this is just a juicy rumor. We just have to wait and see if these will be fulfilled. I'll be waiting for related press releases, info leaks and more rumors that are related to this topic. I hope that this post have intrigued and stimulated your mobile phone taste buds.

Wireless Networks to Participate in FCC Cell Phone Alert System

Many mobile phone sites on the web has featured a story on the FCC making plans on a nationwide emergency alert system using text messages on mobile devices. The commission is trying to enable people to communicate emergency situations by sending text messages to mobile phones.

Top wireless networks including Verizon Wireless, AT&T, Sprint Nextel, and T-Mobile and Verizon have expressed that they are willing to take part in the program. However, the wireless networks strongly request the FCC to adopt an advisory committee's recommendations. The recommendations include, limiting warnings to English and 90 characters in length.

The commission has also decided to allow each participating wireless network to choose its own technical solution for deploying emergency warnings to customers. Special provisions for disabled individuals were also made by the considerate commission.

Well, the Federal Communications Commission approved technical guidelines for a voluntary mobile-phone emergency alert system according to the request of participating wireless network. Unfortunately, a federal coordinator has not yet been appointed for the new public warning system.

The delay began when the Federal Emergency Management Agency or FEMA wanted the FCC to delay key decisions in the rulemaking early this year. The reason for the delay was a legal glitch according to the agency.

The agency wrote the FCC concerning a presidential order given last year that gave FEMA delegated authority over the emergency alert system involving presidential activations. However, the agency do not have enough authority to be involved with critical components of the commercial mobile alert system during non-emergency periods. This components include the trust model, aggregator and gateway functions.

In this issue, FCC Chairman Kevin Martin released this statement,
“By adopting technical requirements for the wireless alerting system today, we are enabling wireless providers that choose to participate in this system to begin designing their networks to deliver mobile alerts. It would have been better, of course, if we had a federal entity in place now to take on the role of alert aggregator and gateway. We are hopeful that we have initiated the dialogue that will allow an appropriate federal entity to assume that central role in an expeditious manner."

Some of the officials involved in this project expressed being disheartened by FEMA's unwillingness to fulfill the role since the agency was intimately involved in developing the idea of a unified federal gateway/aggregator. FEMA reportedly suggest that it would be unable to perform this key function for statutory and other reasons.

It seems that a firm candidate for a position that is essential to launching the alert system is missing getting this system. The FCC may be forced to work with its fellow agencies and the Congress to find a federal entity that can fulfill the controversial function due to FEMA’s recent and unexpected interpretation of its statutory authority.

I like the idea of this alert system based on text messages. Mobile phones are so prevalent today so a system based on text messages can be effective. Wireless networks have also expressed interest in the program which is also good news in my opinion. I hope that the parties involved can sort out this mess and a coordinator can be appointed to guide the project.

Wireless Networks Reviews part One

I have made several post on this blog that offers information on how users feel about certain mobile phones. These reviews were offered by users who posted them on the Internet. Now, I thought it would be interesting to offer a review of wireless networks or mobile phone providers.

Let us begin with Verizon Wireless. Sources on the web describe this wireless network as having the top score in call quality. This means that the subscribers of Verizon Wireless suffer from less drop calls and enjoy great calling experience.

This network is also known for being able to serve a wide range of customers. Verizon offers services that are suitable for corporate customers and non business subscribers. Many sources also credit this wireless carrier for the discount packages it offers to customers.

Since no company is perfect, Verizon has also been criticized for its shortcomings. The wireless network has been chastised for having poor coverage in some areas. Some customers have complained that the network has sub par performance in their location.

Some observers also had commented that Verizon wireless plans are more expensive than most wireless networks. Perhaps they feel that the quality service that the carrier provide does not justify the high cost.

Let us move on to US Cellular. This carrier is known for being the top regional wireless network. This company is credit as providing good customer service to their subscribers. The company takes pride in making their customers feel that their needs will be satisfied.

US Cellular also receive points for the extras they provide on their services. This is also a contributing factor in the company's reputation of providing commendable customer service. Extras and discounts are a good tool for making customers feel that they have received more than their money's worth.

Unfortunately, this wireless network also has its share of criticisms. Some say that the price of their services is also high. Compared with other networks, this company's plans have similar or higher price tags.

Since US Cellular is a regional carrier, its network is limited. It can only provide services in 26 states and most of them are in the Midwest. This can be a problem for customers who have friends and family in states not served by US Cellular. They make be charged for roaming fees when they contact them.

Let us finish this first part with a review of AT&T. This wireless network is considered as one of the giants of the mobile phone industry. With more than sixty million customers, this company has a lot of clout in the industry.

AT&T offers great service and provides good calling quality. The wireless network would not be able to maintain millions of customers if it offers poor service and great products. This carrier offers unique services that are unmatched by other networks. Mobile phone customers subscribe to AT&T because of the great and unique options available.

The company's ability to offer the best and the latest mobile phone products is also a factor in the company's dominance in the industry. Nothing attract customers more than the temptation of being able to get the latest and hottest handsets. The Apple iPhone for example, pulls a massive number of customers to the network.

Nevertheless, the company has also received complaints from dissatisfied customers and reviewers. One of the recurring complaints that are hurled at the network is the delay in voice message delivery. many customers experienced that the voice messages they send are not received by the intended recipient at the expected time.

Some customers have also complained that the company does not treat customers well. The quality of the company's customer service have been questioned. The attitude of the AT&T's service representatives have been the cause of many complaints.

Well, that's it for now. I didn't expect my post to be this long. Judging by the length of this one, two more post may be required to cover other wireless networks. I hope this post will be able to provide you with useful information.

Major 3G Network Coverage Expansion for 2008 Planned by AT&T

This week major wireless network, AT&T has announced some of their major plans for 2008.

The mobile phone industry is grown steadily and the needs of wireless customers also evolve and grow unceasingly. This expansion will allow the company to continuously evolve its network to meet the ever growing needs and demands of the wireless community. To continue delivering higher speeds and capacity for the future, AT&T aims to focus on the evolution towards HSPA+ and LTE technologies.

The network released a statement indicating they plan to make high speed wireless Web connection more accessible by creating a wider network for mobile customers. To achieve this vision, the wireless network will deploy third-generation (3G) wireless broadband services to more than 80 additional US cities.

When this massive expansion plan for this year is complete, AT&T 3G services will be available to nearly 350 leading U.S. markets. No less than 1,500 additional cell sites will be necessary to attain this 3G initiative. That should give you a picture of the immensity of this project.

At&T also mentioned other plans that will be initiated this year. Oner of them is building the nation's first High Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA)-enabled network. This project is expected to be completed by the middle of 2008.

When thisa new generation technology is completed, the wireless network will deliver faster uplink speeds. This means that sending large files in a shorter amount of time will be possible for AT&T's HSUPA-enabled laptop users. They will also be able to take full advantage of the latest interactive Internet and business applications when the HSUPA enabled network becomes operational.

The evolution of AT&T's 3G network will not be possible without the deployment of the HSUPA network. Further enhancements and speed boosts will follow if the initials stages of the expansion has been established. The transition of the AT&T 3G network to High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) standards will be completed only after the deployment of the HSUPA network.

Ralph de la Vega, the president and CEO for AT&T's wireless unit released this statement,
"Fast wireless broadband is the foundation for a whole range of new and emerging applications that our customers are adopting, including everything from social networking to sending live video and large business files. With these aggressive initiatives, we're expanding the scope and the speed of our 3G capabilities, connecting people with their world and enabling more customers to do more with their wireless devices, wherever they may be."
It seems that AT&T wants to start this year with the right foot. The competition in the lucrative wireless phone industry is very tight so getting every possible advantage over the competiton will spell success. If the wireless network can sucessfully expand their networks and complete the tranistion into HSPA+ and LTE technologies, then they will have a significant edge over their rivals.

I hope that these developments will also produce positive changes for wireless consumers. Perhaps the stiff competition among wireless networks will result in the best services and products for us wireless consumers.

Virgin Mobile USA Suffer Continued Losses

It seems that another wireless network is going through a tough time.

It has been reported that despite adding more than 210,000 customers in the final quarter of last year, Virgin Mobile USA Inc. will be taking on a loss of $3 million to $6 million. The company stock was down more than 13% to $6.99 according to the news. Well, if I am an investor, then I will have a pleasant day with those figures.

I don't find it surprising that a lot of consumers decided to choose Virgin mobile over other wireless carriers. After all, this wireless network has been a consumer champion according to some studies. In fact, this company added a total of about 512,000 customers into their network last year and currently have nearly five million customers.

I think that this is a good indication that excellent customer service or providing good consumer satisfaction is a important factor in gaining customers. Some wireless networks who were criticized for subpar customer relations have promised better customer service programs for this year.

Let's go back to the scoop on Virgin Mobile's losses. According to reports the losses were caused by an increasing competitive prepaid landscape combined with economic impacts on the customer base of Virgin Mobile.

The CEO, of Virgin Mobile Inc.,
Dan Schulman, reassured his company's investors with these words, "We believe that sustainable, disciplined customer acquisition will result in higher return on investment and growth over the long term."

He is hoping that the current decline in the wireless network's stocks is only a short term effect of the economic factors that are affecting the company. He also pointed out that
during the final months of the year, Virgin Mobile purposefully avoided cutting prices on its handsets. The CEO further explained that poor customer economics is the common result of temporary, aggressive pricing.

I hope that this slide is indeed only a temporary problem for Virgin mobile. They are doing a good job at providing good and cheap service to their customers. If they can adjust accordingly to the factors that have cause the decline of their stock value, then perhaps they can make their investors happy.

T-Mobile Tops Customer Service Survey

Let's applaud T-Mobile for doing a good job of making their subscribers happy.

In the latest study conducted by the researchers of J.D. Power and Associates, T-Mobile USA Inc. remained as the top wireless carrier in terms of customer service performance. For the past several studies done by the research company, T-Mobile has stayed rooted at the top. It must be good to be a customer of this wireless network.

Let me describe how the study is done. The research gathers information on how well the wireless carriers meet customers’ service-related needs. They look at several types of services including those done over the phone with a representative, via automated response system, personal visits to T-Mobile retail stores and online transactions.

To complete the study, researchers form J.D. Power and Associates also measures the efficiency of how customers’ issues are resolved. About twelve and a half thousand wireless customers who contacted their carrier’s customer-care department within the past year were the foundation of this research.

Other wireless networks also did well in this customer satisfaction study. Verizon Wireless was ranked number two while AT&T and Alltel are tied at the third spot. Sprint Nextel Corp. ranked last in the study but they made announcements before the end of last year that they will initiate programs driven towards improving customer service.

Several interesting findings also surfaced as a result of this customer satisfaction study. For instance, nearly half of wireless customers connected to the customer care service of their wireless networks. Most of them were related to inaccurate charges and other inquiries related to bills.

A lot of wireless network customers contacted their carriers by phone but most people still prefer personal visits to a retail store. Maybe people feel more comfortable with doing things personally. In my experience, nothing beats talking personally with a customer care representative when discussing a problem.

I hope that this post have been helpful for you. If you haven't chosen a particular network, then the results of the study might help you form a decision.

Sprint Nextel and Clearwire Resume WiMax Talks

According to numerous reports, major wireless phone carrier Sprint Nextel and Clearwire have resumed talks that have stalled last year.

Clearwire Corp. is a wireless Internet provider that is in negotiation with Sprint in an effort to combine their high-speed wireless WiMax networks. The company currently operates pre-WiMax networks in 46 U.S. markets, including Seattle, Syracuse, N.Y., and Duluth, Minn. Wimax networks have the capacity to grant faster wireless Web connection speeds for laptops and cell phones.

Last November, talks about combining the high-speed wireless WiMax networks of both companies have bogged down. As a result of this failure, the shares of the much smaller Clearwire went down to more than 40 percent.

Sprint Nextel may have also been affected by this event as there has been reports that the wireless network may be planning huge lay-off. Some estimated that the major wireless network will give up thousands of employees and make drastic changes within the company. However, other factors may have played a greater role in Sprint's decline.

Fortunately, reports have indicated that these ailing companies have crafted a new plan. Some say that it involves spinning off Sprint's WiMax unit and merging it with Clearwire networks. This venture seems to have caught the attention of Intel Corp. which may be a good source of funds to help seal the deal.

It also appears that the negotiations between the two companies have brought good results. Fro instance, Clearwire shares have skyrocketed and the stock of Sprint Nextel have increased in value. I hope that the talks between these companies will succeed. After all, we can all benefit from the faster online connection that Wimax networks can offer.

AT&T Mobile TV Launch

This is a bit of good news for AT&T subscribers.

According to anonymous sources, AT&T Mobility has began making preparations to launch mobile TV broadcast services from MediaFLO USA Inc. After all the delays that have frustrated customers, it seems that the long awaited launch of this service if finally at hand. Aren't you excited?

AT&T customers will finally get what Verizon has given their customers almost a year ago. The wireless network initially announced that it would launch the mobile TV service by the end of 2007. However, they were unable to push through with that plan. If you can feel the excitement then let me give you another juicy bit of info.

The launch is estimated to be held in the early part of February. The internal documents and sources that have been "leaked" indicate that it will happen next month. The information also express that the plan is to use two exclusive channels for the launch of AT&T's Mobile TV.

MediaFlow's service offers offers eight live, linear TV channels around the clock but sources say that may not be the case for AT&T's service. Experts predict that MediaFLO will work with carriers. This will help the networks to provide different offers and provide opportunities for exclusive content. In short, they will try to keep everyone happy.

After all, having both mobile phone networks offering similar services would not be a good idea. Each wireless network should have something different to offer that will appeal to their customers. A good example would be to offer exclusive channels. Each carrier with mobile TV would be able to mix content that might not necessarily come from a single source.

However, AT&T Mobility and MediaFLO have refused to make any comments on the leaked information about the mobile TV launch. Nevertheless, customers who are eager to try out mobile TV feel that AT&T will finally deliver and will satisfy the cravings of their customers.

I basically feel the same way. Verizon customers have been enjoying this service so AT&t has to be more aggressive about the release this anticipated service. Another delay might cause AT&T to lose some of their loyal subscribers and certainly bring about more complaints.

Alltell Sued by Verizon for False Advertising

It seems that another dispute between two major wireless phone carriers or networks has began.

Apparently, Verizon Wireless has filed a civil suit in the federal court in Richmond, Va. against Alltel Corp. on the grounds of making false advertising claims. The origin of this problem is an Alltel ad that claimed only Alltel gives wireless customers the ability to change their calling plans without having to extend the term of their contracts.

Verizon reacted unfavorably to this Altell Ad because they have began to allow their customers to change their wireless plans without requiring an extension of their contracts about two months ago. After this important decision they contacted Alltel about the carrier’s ad to request that it be changed.

Now, Altell claims that it granted Verizon Wireless' request to cahnge the ad. Andrew Moreau, a spokesman for Alltel said, “We did make edits to that ad to accommodate Verizon’s position. The version of the ad that Verizon filed with its complaint was a prior version of the ad so it didn’t reflect the edits that we made.”

However, Verizon Wireless claims Alltel continued to air the unedited advertisement throughout last year and into 2008. The carrier wrote in court documents that,

"Verizon Wireless notified Alltel of these falsehoods and reasonably believed that any such false advertising would cease on or before Thanksgiving. However, Alltel has continued to run advertising falsely and misleadingly contending that only Alltel offers wireless customers the ability to change their service without changing their contract term.”
As of this time Verizon Wireless declined to make any comment beyonds the lawsuit. Read more about this wireless network news at rcrnews.com

Lucrative Wireless Network Deal Scrapped

Gary Forsee, the Chief Executive Officer of Sprint was recently evicted resulting in the scrapping of Sprint Nextel Corp. and Clearwire Corp. plans to build a high-speed wireless network together. Cleawire is a network company founded by mobile-phone pioneer Craig McCaw. The ouster also resulted in a decline of as much as 28 percent to the value of Clearwire shares .

Sprint announced the deal and the plan was supposed to be completed in two months. However, the talks slowed while Forsee faced pressure from investors to curb spending after losing customers. Ultimately, the decrease in customers caused Forsse's dismissal.

It is clear that the deal's collapse will be damaging for Clearwire Corp. For the last three years, the corporation's losses have swelled amid efforts to build a national network. In fact, it sold shares to the public in March to help fund construction. However, it seems to be futile as it's third-quarter sales totaled $41.3 million, less than 100th of Sprint's. Visit this site to learn more about this wireless deals collapse.

Verizon Expansion to Help Beverly, Massachusetts Residents

Verizon Wireless, considered by many as the nation's most reliable wireless network is in the process of expending its network with the construction of a new cell site. This initiative is designed to provide the best wireless service for local residents in Essex County. Those residing along along Route 127 in eastern Beverly and the surrounding area will enjoy the new coverage and capacity offered by the new site.

Huge Wireless Network on Silicon Valley Stalling

A recent column in the San Jose Mercury News revealed that the ambitious plan to blanket 1,500 square miles of California’s Silicon Valley with a wireless network may be on the edge of stalling. Experts observed that for even two one-square-mile test sites the project has still unable to raise funds.

The region which covers most of the peninsula south of San Francisco and is one of the wealthiest regions in the United States. However, The two test sites, has been unwilling to cough up the $500,000 needed to complete the project.

The Most Reliable US Wireless Network

The profitable wireless phone business has given rise to highly successful wireless carriers and networks. The lucrative business has produced intense competition among this companies and has resulted in a vast collection of quality cell phones, plans and other merchandise. Among these wireless carriers, Verizon Wireless claims to offer the most reliable service on the best wireless voice and data network of the United States.

I have to say that it is a bold claim since there are other excellent wireless companies who are also offering excellent service. Verison Wireless claim of being the most reliable network is actually based on network studies. These studies were performed by real-life test men and test women who inspired the company's national advertising campaign.

Every year, these engineers conduct more than 3 million voice call attempts and more than 16 million data tests annually on Verizon Wireless' and other national wireless carriers' networks. These specialists travel in specially equipped, company-owned quality test vehicles on nearly 1 million miles of the most frequently traveled roadways nationwide in order to collect data for the test.

The tests are done primarily to ensure that the network meets high call quality standards. To do this, each voice call is tabulated on computers inside the test vehicle as either a successful call, an ineffective attempt or a lost call. The same method applies for file downloads, uploads and web browsing. The tests conducted are classified based upon the ability to establish data session and the ability to complete the task. The engineers download the test results onto computers at Verizon's network test centers for compilation and analysis once all the test vehicles complete their routes.

The results of the tests were favorable for Verizon Wireless. It consistently showed that in major metropolitan centers and some remote areas the rate of ineffective attempts for the Verizon Wireless national network is lower than any other national carrier. Voice calls that connect on the Verizon's network are more likely to stay connected for the duration of the call according to the test results.

The data network reliability test results also establish that Verizon Wireless has the nation's most reliable wireless broadband network. Verizon Wireless' ability to set up data sessions and complete large file downloads and uploads at a greater rate of success than its national competitors is one of the strongest proof to this claim.

Save Money Through a Wireless Network

Do you know how to save money by using a wireless network? If you don't then let me tell you that you can route calls through the PBX phone system to a wireless network instead of expensive phone lines thereby reducing the cost of cell phone-to-office phone calls.

Businesses can now reduce reduce their telephone expenses by using Multi-Tech CallFinder CDMA wireless networks instead of normal PSTN (public switched telephone network) lines to connect cell phone callers to company offices. The cellular gateway makes all of these happen. Remote offices can also use this technology as a complete replacement for PSTN lines. Doing so will allow the office to use a desk telephone connected directly to the gateway.

This process is also possible for larger offices that use a PBX phone system. In this case, the cellular gateway connects to a PBX trunk line or PBX extension and routes incoming and outgoing calls through a CDMA wireless network. Then, the gateway connects a company’s PBX and CDMA networks. This allows calls between the two at no charge. Additionally, in the case of landline failure for normal calls and 911 calls it provides a reliable back up. Estimates project that by using cellular service through a CallFinder instead of PSTN lines, a business could save up to twenty percent on its telephone bills.

There is also very little configuration required to install the gateway except for a few AT-style commands issued through a serial port. A person who has PBX programming knowledge can set up the routing tables in the PBX. In fact, any companies on the IT department are now in charge of PBX. The CallFinder CDMA presently supports major wireless networks like Sprint and Alltel.

Cellular Wireless Networks Types

There are 3 types of cellular wireless networks that cover different cellar areas. These networks are applicable to different wireless communication scenarios. Most of the time a macrocellar network covers the largest area. However, it still has its disadvantages because it requires the highest transmission power and shows the lowest spectrum efficiency. On the other hand, a picocell network achieves the best spectrum efficiency even if it transmits the weakest radio signal to cover a small area.

Cellular Wireless network are divided into cells to reuse the wireless spectrum in the most efficient manner. A single cell is commonly a hexagon in shape. There are three types of cellular networks based on the cell radius.
The3 Types of Cellular Wireless Networks
Picocellar Wireless Network

This type has the smallest radio coverage with a radius that ranges from 10 to 200m. It is commonly called the indoor wireless network because it is usually deployed in a small room. This type also has the best spectrum efficiency among the three types of cellar networks. Picocellar networks transmit the lowest radio power and has the smallest rms delay due to its coverage.

Macrocellar Wireless Network
This type can cover a large area with a radius ranging from 1 to 10 km. A large macrocell which is mainly used for rural areas with little traffic can cover a range with a radius of 5 to 10 km. Small macrocells that are used used if traffic density is high, covers a range with a radius between 1 and 5 km. Macrocellars transmit a very high radio power allowing it to cover a large cellar area. However, the large cell coverage results in low spectrum efficiency.
Microcellar Wireless Network
These networks cover a radius ranging from 200m to 1km and are deployed in suburbs or other areas with high traffic density. They are often deployed as a chain or in two dimensions. The two-dimension set up is commonly made in the city streets. On the other hand, chain-like deployments are built along a highway with high traffic densities. This type has better spectrum efficiency than that of macrocellar networks.

The WiFi Antenna Technology

A lot of users are saying that WiFi wireless network technology has proved to be of great use and has satisfied the expectations. It is also obvious that the most important aspect in the area of development of this technology is the power of the wifi antenna. Installing and configuring an external antenna can extend the given range of the wi-fi system (currently running 802.11 IEEE standard) giving the user more mobility.

Are you interested in getting an antenna? If you do, then you first have to analyze all your requirements because there are plenty of various types and kind of antennas available in the market. The antenna that you should get should satisfy your needs. For example, you will need a directional antenna if you want to have a better mobility of the system then the directional antennas. This type of antennas are commonly used used in point to point transmissions.

You might also be looking for omni directional power antennas. This type of antenna transmits waves that are propagated in all directions so they are ideal as base antennas. This type can also transmit data to various nodes in the network like wireless printers, laptops, PDA, etc. However, these antennas also have negative attributes. For instance, people who need in point to point transmission cannot use these bi-directional antennas.

Perhaps you need multi-point WiFi antenna power options. This type of antenna can be used in multi cast communication because it can handle data transmission between a point and multi points. IF you want to establish and share wireless local area network or try to establish a high speed Internet connection, then you will love this antenna. Those who want to use an antenna to set up wireless access points can also turn to this tool.

There are also other factors that you should consider before you choose an antenna. You also need to think about the power output of the wireless network interface card, and also the strength of the receiving wireless card. You cannot disregard these factors because they play an important role in determining the effective range of the antennas. Remember that you need to know and understand the qualities that are needed for an efficient and properly working network and requirements of a system if you want to choose the right kind of antennas. If you feel that you are incapable of understanding the technical aspect of the wireless network, and its requirement, then you should seek the aid of skilled technicians.
